Selection process for Best Student Paper Award:

1. SMC’XX program Co-Chairs select 5 best student papers in each of 4 categories. These selections are forwarded to the corresponding representatives of the SMC awards committee who make the final decisions.
2. A paper is considered to be a student paper if either the first author or the corresponding author is a student.
3. Since PaperCept does not have info on who is a student and who is not, the program chair sends an email to all the authors of accepted papers to provide Vladik Kreinovich, Program Chair with this information by Friday June 16. On Saturday June 17, the program chair will forward this info to program co-chairs, so that they can use it to make their selections.
4. If the program chair does not get the info from any of the authors of a paper, this paper will not appear in the student paper list and therefore, will not be participating in the selection of the best student paper.
